Three Privileges Christ Won for His Followers at the Cross

The crucifixion of Jesus Christ is central to the Christian faith, and believers find salvation and hope through His death and resurrection. From a biblical perspective, we can see that the cross of Christ represents not only the ultimate act of love but also the ultimate triumph over sin and death. This blog teaches about three amazing privileges Christ won for His followers.

Amazing Privilege in Christ # 1 – Forgiveness of Sin

As we begin our study of the three amazing privileges Christ won for His followers, we come to the first privilege, the forgiveness of sin. Forgiveness of sins is one of the most important benefits that Christ obtained for His followers through His death on the cross.

“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace,” the apostle Paul wrote in Ephesians 1:7.

Because of Christ’s sacrifice, we can be forgiven of our sins and reconciled to God. This forgiveness is a free gift of grace that we receive through faith in Jesus Christ, not on the basis of our own merit or good works.

Forgiveness of sins is one of the most important benefits that Christ obtained for His followers through His death on the cross.

Amazing Privilege in Christ # 2 – Freedom from sin and Satan’s bonds

Another benefit that Christ’s death on the cross secured for His followers is freedom from sin and Satan’s bonds. “And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands,” Colossians 2:13-15 says.

He set it aside and nailed it to the cross. By triumphing over them in him, he disarmed the rulers and authorities and exposed them.” Jesus defeated sin and Satan through His death and resurrection, breaking their grip on our lives. We are no longer held captive by sin but have been set free to live for God.

Amazing Privilege in Christ # 3 – Family of God

And now we come to the third of the three amazing privileges Christ won for His followers, a family. Adoption into God’s family is the third privilege that Christ won for His followers through His death on the cross. “But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons,” we read in Galatians 4:4-7.

And because you are sons, God has sent his Son’s Spirit into our hearts, crying out, ‘Abba! Father!’ As a result, you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, an heir through God.” We become members of God’s family through faith in Christ, with all the benefits and privileges that come with being His children.

The third amazing privilege Christ won for His followers is a family

It looks darkest before the dawn.

Now that we have looked at the three amazing privileges Christ won for His followers, we need to recognize that these privileges are only for committed believers of Christ. We only have these rights because God the Father accepted Christ’s sacrifice and honored His majesty by raising Him from the dead on Resurrection Sunday. “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!” wrote the Apostle Peter in 1 Peter 1:3-5.

Through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.” The cross’s and the empty tomb’s transformative power can be seen in the lives of believers who are no longer bound by sin and death but have been given new life and hope through Jesus Christ.

The crucifixion of Jesus Christ is the pinnacle of God’s love for us. We have been given the privilege of forgiveness of sins, freedom from sin and Satan’s bonds, and adoption into God’s family as a result of His death and resurrection. Let us remember the living hope we have through the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the transformational power of His sacrifice in our lives as we reflect on the cross and the empty tomb.

Saved by God’s amazing grace

Let us also remember that our salvation is a free gift of grace that we receive through faith in Jesus Christ, not on our own merit or works.

As Christians, we are called to live the truth of the cross and resurrection in our daily lives, bearing witness to God’s love and power through our words and actions. We can overcome sin and live a life that honors and glorifies God through the power of the Holy Spirit.
In times of adversity, we can cling to the living hope that we have because of Jesus Christ’s resurrection. We can have faith that God will keep His promises and bring us through every trial and tribulation, strengthening and transforming us along the way.

Bringing It Home

To summarize, Jesus Christ’s crucifixion is the most significant event in human history, representing the ultimate expression of God’s love and the ultimate triumph over sin and death. We have been given three amazing privileges won for us by Christ including forgiveness of sins, freedom from sin and Satan’s bonds, and adoption into God’s family as a result of His death and resurrection. Let us cling to this living hope and live out the truths of the cross and resurrection in our everyday lives.
