Sunday Night Update – A Bit Better Day

We’re thankful to share that today was a bit better for Amy.

She is now out of atrial fibrillation, which is a major relief. After some investigation, the doctors believe the episode was triggered by longstanding thyroid issues that were complicated further by the surgery and medication changes. We’re grateful they were able to identify the cause and bring things back into a safer rhythm.

Amy also had one of her surgical drains removed today. It was a painful and uncomfortable step, but a necessary one. She still has two more drains that need to be removed in the coming days, and we’d appreciate your prayers as those transitions come.

Pain management remains a challenge. The doctors are continuing to adjust her medication protocols in hopes of finding a better balance between effectiveness and side effects. It’s not easy, but they’re working closely with her, and we are encouraged by their commitment.

All in all, Amy continues to move forward on the transplant recovery pathway. There are still plenty of difficult moments, but today held some small victories—and we’re holding onto those.

We are especially thankful for the incredible nursing care Amy has received. Two of her nurses, Dan and Gisela (GiGi), have gone above and beyond in their kindness, professionalism, and compassion. Their presence has been a gift in a very vulnerable season, and we are truly grateful.

We continue to thank God for the anonymous donor whose selfless gift made this transplant possible. Please keep them in your prayers as they, too, are walking through their own recovery process. We may not know their name, but we are praying for their full healing and for God’s blessing upon their life.

Thank you again for your faithful prayers and support. They continue to sustain us, and we feel them deeply.

Please keep praying:

  • For continued stability and no return of irregular heart rhythms
  • For the successful and gentle removal of the remaining drains
  • For better pain management and rest
  • For ongoing healing and strength as her body adjusts to the new liver
  • For the donor’s full recovery and God’s continued grace in their life
  • For peace, patience, and resilience for Amy and our family

We give thanks for each step forward.

With deep appreciation,
James
