______________

What comforting truths does Scripture offer? Suffering Yet Eternally Secure (1 Peter 1:1-2 and 1 Peter 5:12-14)

Foundational Truth – Controlling realities – Great assurances

First and foremost, in times of suffering, you can rest in God and be eternally secure because you have been eternally chosen. This means that God chose you to be His own before you were born. You have a greater purpose and destiny than you could ever imagine.

Second, in times of suffering, you can rest in God and be eternally secure because you are completely known. God is aware of every detail about you, including your struggles and pain. You are not alone in this; God is with you every step of the way.

Third, in times of suffering, you can rest in God and be eternally secure because you are infinitely loved. God loves you unconditionally, despite your flaws and shortcomings. His love is based on who you are as His beloved child, not what you do.

Fourthly, in times of suffering, you can rest in God and be eternally secure because you are saved radically. You have been saved from sin and death through Jesus Christ. In Christ, you have been given a new life and a new identity.

Fifthly, in times of suffering, you can rest in God and be eternally secure because you are being changed progressively. God is constantly working in your life to shape you into the image of Christ. Even in your trials, God is refining and shaping you.

Lastly, in times of suffering, you can rest in God and be eternally secure because you are graced abundantly. God’s grace is sufficient to cover your flaws and failures. You do not have to earn God’s love or approval; it has already been given to you through Jesus Christ.
