Grace Precedes Peace

1:2 – May grace and peace be multiplied to you.Grace –Grace means unmerited favor.

  • Unmerited Grace – entirely separated from human ability or merit.
  • Unsurpassed Grace – Rom 5:20
  • Unassailable Grace – “grace enough” – “sufficient grace” (2 Cor. 9:8, 2 Pet 1:3)
  • Notice though that grace precedes peace. Do you have that today?

Praise for God

1:3-5 – 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, 5 who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

  • Praise God/Worship God
  • Because of His great mercy
  • Because He caused us to be born again
  • Because He has given us a living hope connected to the resurrection of Jesus from the dead
  • Because He has granted us an inheritance
  • Because He keeps it secure in heaven
  • Because He keeps us secured

Gratitude journal

When was the last time someone said thank you to you? When was the last time you said thank you to someone else? So many people today struggle with a lack of thankfulness and ingratitude. This leads to struggles with complaining, criticizing, and comparing. Gratitude and thankfulness provide a powerful remedy for these problems.
