Does it feel like God is distant from you? Do you sense that you’re in danger and need His help and protection? What do you do in those times? To whom do you turn your cries and complaints? How do you respond to the overwhelming and distressing difficulties of your life?
In this psalm, David seems to be far away from home. He was probably forced to escape during the rebellion of his son, Absalom (2 Samuel 15-18). David prays for God’s security. David is fully assured that God can help him. God is able and willing to answer His children’s cries for help.
We need to believe these truths and do the same as David. Remind yourself your God is not limited. He is everywhere present. He never abandons us. His awesome strength is always with us. God is caring and compassionate. God never breaks His promises.
