Developing a Renewed Mind
Podcast show notes
John 8:32, 36
32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
So who are you?
Proverbs 23:7 – For as he thinks within himself, so he is. (NAS)
What we believe in our heart (mind), what controls that central part of our lives control us.
Who is in control of your mind?
Romans 12:1-2
I urge you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. (NAS)
How are we transformed?
2 Cor 3:18 – And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.
What threatens a renewed mind?
2 Cor 10:3-5 – 3 For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. 5 We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ
On what should we focus our thoughts?
Phil 4:8-9 – 8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. 9 What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
